Make your own games!

This is the first of a new series of projects for kids of all ages -
you can follow the instructions and do it yourself, or get a parent to help!
Artsology can show you how to take a few simple things found around the house and make them into a game. Our first project will be a "coin toss" game, similar to what you might find at a carnival.

First, take a standard take-out pizza box (we highly recommend that you eat the pizza first - if you need help with that, let us know). Then, flip it over so that you have the blank bottom side, and cut out any number of holes, approximately 1 1/2 to 2" in diameter.
Next, get some small paper drinking cups, like Dixie cups, or something similar, to use as your "coin catchers." Make small 1/2 inch cuts around the top, fold them back, and then open the pizza box and tape them underneath the holes. This way, not only do you prevent your toss object (whether you use coins, or a small ball, etc.) from landing in the used (and probably somewhat greasy) pizza box, but it also allows you to keep track which hole you successfully tossed in. This way, you can assign "points" to the different holes, and keep score with a friend to see who scores the most points.
Finally, you can decorate the box in any way that you want. In our case, we decided to make a musical instrument coin toss game. Decorate yours with any pictures and have fun!
