Charlie Parker, also known as "Bird," was a very important jazz musician and composer, inspiring countless other musicians with his creativity and improvisational skills on the alto saxophone. Born in 1920, Parker was a leader on the jazz scene by the late 1940's and a major contributor to the development of bebop jazz. Watch Bird here in action:
