Episode Two: A Trip to Greece


ACROPOLIS: A rocky hill in Athens, which is considered the "Sacred Rock," the most important site of the ancient city.
PARTHENON: A monumental temple for the goddess Athena built on the Acropolis in Athens between 447 and 432 B.C
CARYATID: A supporting column sculptured in the form of a draped female figure.
BLACK FIGURE VASE PAINTING: In black-figure vase painting, figures and designs were painted on the vase with a type of clay found near Athens which had a lot of iron in it, so it looked black when it was wet and it stayed black when fired in the oven.
DOME: A vaulted roof having a circular base and a generally hemispherical shape.
HEMISPHERE: Half of a roundlike object.
