The Frank Lloyd Wright vs. Louis Sullivan Architectural Challenge

This game is a version of "Tic Tac Toe." You play as Frank Lloyd Wright, and select the square where you want to place your building by clicking on it. Louis Sullivan will then place his building in another square. The first architect to get three squares in a row wins. To learn more about these architects, scroll down below the game to read more!

Louis Sullivan studied architecture at M.I.T. and then at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Upon returning to the U.S., Sullivan formed an architectural firm in Chicago in 1881. Frank Lloyd Wright joined the firm in 1888, and was initially the chief draftsman, and later responsible for all of the firm's residential contracts. Sullivan even asked Wright to design his own (Sullivan's) house. But in 1893, Wright was forced to resign when it was discovered that he had been working on residential designs under his own name on the side. While Wright felt bad about how this relationship ended, they did have differences of opinion regarding architectural theory. Sullivan is famous for his quote that "form follows function," while Wright believed that "form and function are one."
